The Lord's Supper This Morning

Being the first Sunday of the month, we'll gather at the Lord's table this morning for communion. Prepare your hearts for worship. Also, we'll be saying farewell to one of our young families, as God is calling them out of the army and into a church ministry in Tennessee.

Pastor Gabe will continue our series in 2 Corinthians 5. Today's sermon is entitled "The Ministry of Reconciliation." Bible study is at 9:30 and worship begins at 10:30. Here's the sermon from last week on "Knowing the Fear of God."

Memorial Day Weekend

We welcome you to church this morning with Sunday school at 9:30 and worship at 10:30. Pastor Gabe will be preaching today from 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 in a sermon entitled, "We Do Not Lose Heart."

FSBC is a diverse church family thanks to the influence of Ft. Riley on the surrounding area. This Memorial Day weekend, we encourage you to remember those who have lost their lives in the fight for freedom. Our freedom isn't free. It has been paid for by the blood of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice, and they laid down their lives for our country.

Likewise, our spiritual freedom required a great price. We had sinned against God and were following the enemy. What we deserved for our rebellion was death. But God sent His Son, Jesus, to be an atoning sacrifice for our sins. He rose again from the dead so that all who believe in Jesus will not perish, but have everlasting life. In Christ, we are set free from bondage to sin and to death. "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36).

Pray for our military families, and pray for those who have lost friends and family in battle. This weekend, we remember their sacrifice.

Sunday Potluck and Members Meeting

After church this Sunday, May 20, we will be hosting a potluck in the fellowship hall downstairs! Contribute by bringing an entree, a side, or a dessert. There will also be a silent pie auction with all of the proceeds to benefit our MOPS program. Come to church ready to worship, eat, and fellowship! Bible classes are at 9:30, church is at 10:30.

As we begin wrapping up our lunch, we will meet upstairs in the sanctuary for our quarterly business meeting. Under consideration for this meeting is the annual budget, arrangement of childcare rooms, and appointing a new person in charge of our children's ministries.
