Happy New Year!

We hope you had a Merry Christmas as we hit the last few days of the year. This coming Sunday, we're going to have our Q&A over the book of 1 Thessalonians, answering questions that have been asked by our congregation about end-times, the rapture, and other material covered in this epistle. Then on Sunday, January 5th, we'll start right in on 2 Thessalonians!

Our Sunday evening service kicks off on January 19 at 6:00 with a concert featuring Jc Ledford. This concert is free, launching Jc's newest CD! More details coming up next week, and will also be posted in a future edition of The Daily Union.

Christmas Eve Service

Our Christmas Eve candlelight service will be on Tuesday evening, December 24 (of course) at 6:00pm. We'll have a cookie social afterward, and punch downstairs in the fellowship hall. Bring cookies if you can, but if not, don't let that stop you from coming! The church is located at 1220 W. 8th St.

The Olivet Discourse, Parts 1 and 2

Between both services, we only had a small grouping this morning due to the winter weather. Many have the requested that the sermon be posted online. And it's up! Pastor Gabe gives Part 2 of the Olivet Discourse found in Matthew 24. You'll find it on the right side of this page.

If you missed part 1, it is also posted under our sermons page by clicking here. Listen on the website, or download the sermon and listen to it later on your computer. Don't forget that our Christmas Eve candlelight service is coming up Tuesday evening at 6:00. We'll have a cookie and punch social afterward, downstairs in the fellowship hall. Please join us!

Winter Weather Advisory

We're expecting five inches of snow overnight, but no matter the weather situation, we will still be having services in the morning! First service is at 8:30, Sunday school is at 9:45, and the second service is at 11:00. The parking lots should also be plowed as well by the time you get here!

Welcome the Daniels!

Congratulations to Korey and Kaelii Daniel who were baptized last week during our 11:00 service! The Daniels have also become members of First Southern Baptist Church, and are already part of several of our classes on Sundays and Wednesdays. Take a moment to introduce yourselves, and get to know them and how Christ has changed their lives!

If you've not been baptized as a profession of your faith and would like to be, ask Pastor Gabe. There's no qualification other than you profess to love the Lord Jesus Christ, and understand what your baptism represents. If you'd like to become members, we'd like to sit down with you and get to know you a little bit first! Visit with any of our teachers or deacons to know more.

Women's Study Cancelled

A reminder that due to the weather and slick road conditions, our Divine Design women's study that would be at 3:00 has been cancelled.

In Case of Winter Weather

There's a possibility of some snow tonight, and it could be snowing when you're on your way to church. No matter what happens with the weather, the church will always be open for worship on Sunday mornings. If you're able to make it, please come fellowship with the body of Christ!

Typically our parking lot is cleared out by the time folks start showing up for our 8:30 service. You should have a clear parking lot to park in!

Decorate Your Leader Night

Well, our sanctuary has been decorated for Christmas. And tonight, the AWANA kids get to decorate their leaders! All of the wrapping and the trimmings will be supplied. Our fellowship meal this evening consists of a variety of sandwiches: tuna salad, egg salad, or peanut butter and jelly. There will also be potato salad and a peach dessert. Cost is $2 per child, $4 per adult, or $8 feeds the whole family! We start at 5:00, followed by AWANA and Bible study at 6:00.
